Ceres Zipline Adventures

During our recent visit to Tulbagh, I was privileged to have been invited by the owner of Ceres Zipline Adventures, Gabriel le Roux, for a canopy tour experience like nothing I’ve ever done before. A real South African attraction.  You can read more about our visit to Tulbagh in one of my earlier articles.

Situated in the heart of the Schurweberg Mountains, below the Koekedouw Dam and a mere 20-minute drive from Tulbagh, is Ceres, home to the Ceres Zipline Adventures. It is an activity that any family with older children (over the age of 12) can enjoy together, which is a bonus for me.

Ceres Zip Line Tours

The Ceres Zipline Adventures was officially opened by the Minister and Deputy Minster of Tourism on the 1st of November 2010 and is currently the longest Zipline Tour in South Africa, totalling an impressive 1.4km. The tours depart every 30 min and groups sizes can be up to 12 people. Whether sunshine or rain, rest assured that not even the weather can prevent you from experiencing this opportunity. On arrival for the start of this amazing adventure, you are to sign an indemnity form and then it’s time to get you kitted up by experience guides. You are then driven to the starting point. Once you have reached the starting point, the experienced guides will explain the whole process to you as well as all the “do’s” and “don’ts”.  After all the formalities are done, all that’s left to do is for you to relax and enjoy the ride.

The Zipline runs in a zigzag pattern across Koekedouw River on 8 different cables, running from platform to platform. The slides vary from 100m – 290m in length and the highest point is 40m from the ground, which means that the views are breathtaking.

If you are wanting to do something that the whole family can take part in, or if you have a sense of adventure, be sure to drop in at Ceres Zipline Adventures for an absolute thrill.
